About the Artist:
Multi-talented artist, educator, writer and historian Robert W. Kenny has participated in numerous juried group exhibitions, group exhibitions and one-person shows across the United States. His work is held in private collections in New York, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Virginia, Florida, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Great Britain, and Belgium. A graduate of the University of Texas in Austin, with a degree in journalism, Kenny earned a Master of Arts in history from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, a Ph.D. in history from the University of Chicago, Chicago, and a Master of Fine Arts from George Washington University. He also holds an Associate in Arts from Tarleton State College, Texas and pursued non-degree study at the University of London’s University College. Kenny served as Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at George Washington University from 1990-1992 and was Dean of its College of Arts and Sciences from 1998-1992. He also served as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor of History at George Washington University and as an Assistant Professor of History at Washington and Lee University, Lexington, Virginia. In the mid 1950s, he was a reporter for the Corpus Christi Caller Times in Corpus Christi, Texas before entering the field of higher education. His first position was as an instructor in Journalism at the University of Texas. Kenny has written or edited several books. They include Elizabeth’s Admiral: the Political Career of Charles Howard, Earl of Nottingham, published in 1968; Letters and Papers of Sir Nathaniel Bacon, Volume II published in 1972; The Law of Freedom in a Platform: the Utopian Experiment of Gerard Winstanley, published in 1978; and Temple Rodef Shalom, the First Twenty-Five Years, published in 1982. His most recent work, about artist William Sidney Mount, William Sidney Mount: Family, Friends and Ideas, was published in 1999. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
